Classroom Expectations
All students are expected to come to class prepared with their knowledge, interactive notebook, pens, and other materials when instructed. Each student will receive a set of textbooks that will need to be kept at home. I have a class set for use in my classroom. Students will come quietly to class and begin the warm up immediately entering the room. Students will not talk during this time. Often in the classroom we will conduct classroom discussions and it’s absolutely necessary that the students demonstrate respect by waiting to be called upon before talking and never talking during the class while I’m instructing.

Materials for class:
Five Subject Spiral Notebook
Colored pencils
Highlighters
Scotch Tape
Black Pens
Loose leaf paper

Homework:
The students in Mr. LaGrange’s class should expect homework daily and if no homework is given they should look over any notes or reading assigned. Social studies and History in general is like a long story and if they’re not keeping up with how the story is told it can severely affect their grade. If your young adult tells you that they have no homework, he or she can always look over notes or reading as pop quizzes are given on a very frequent basis. All homework is due at the beginning of the class block. If there is an extenuating circumstance why homework is not finished i.e. emergency please contact me by email. . Partial homework will be given a grade of a 50. Late homework will receive partial credit up to 7 days after it’s due. If a student is missing homework at the end of the 7th day it becomes a zero.

Tests/Quizzes:
Every student who received a test grade of<70 will be given a chance to retake the test. The student will have 5 days to retake the test to raise their grade. (Max points 70%)

Interactive Notebook: Each student will use an interactive notebook for all class assignments and notes.

Absences: If a student has an excused absence from school, he/she must make up all work within five days of his/her return to class. Anything not made up within that time period will turn into a zero. * It’s the student’s responsibility to contact me regarding work.

Projects:
Students will participate in several/many projects this year. Each project may require research, group work and a class presentation. Special materials may be required and requested at the date of the assignment.
