Experimental Group- An experimental group is the group that receives the variable being tested in an experiment.

Control Group- The control group is the group in an experiment that does not receive the variable you are testing.

The independent variable in an experiment is what the experimenter controls to create two or more comparison groups.

The dependent variable is the variable that is affected during an experiment. In any experiment, different groups are compared on the outcome (like popcorn eaten), which is called the dependent variable.
